The Do’s and Don’ts of Eye Area Skincare

When we break down an effective skincare routine, there are two most important factors: firstly, having the right products. And secondly, taking the right approach. When we don’t know how to apply a  product correctly, we risk sacrificing the benefits of its inclusion in our routine. Now, take such a delicate area as the one around our eyes. Knowledge of product application is more than just beneficial here: it’s paramount to avoiding early signs of aging, unnecessary puffiness, or irritation to our eyes in general.

Fortunately at Plantae, we think it’s important to provide more than just the appropriate tools for each skin care task. We’re here to provide too, the manual for their optimal use. Today, we’re flipping the page to your eyes. Introducing the DO’s and DON’Ts of eye area skin care!

DO begin with a cleansed face. Before tending to your eye area, it’s best to ensure that ALL make-up has been removed from your face. Of all beauty products, eye makeup is notorious for being particularly stubborn. Trust us when we say this, however: you won’t regret paying attention to detail.
We recommend starting your eye care routine with Plantae’s gentle, but extremely effective makeup remover: the Bergamot Orange Cleansing Milk. Comprised of extracts of bergamot orange, lemon balm, and emollient rich safflower seed, this cleanser is more or less a recipe for luxurious skin. What’s more, just a simple massage over your eyes will rid all make-up and impurities.

On that tender note, DON’T use an eye make-up remover that stings your eyes. In response to irritation, our eyes grow watery and puffy. Over time, this puffiness can pull on the elasticity of our skin and accelerate the appearance of under eye bags. Your best bet for avoiding premature bags is by the use of a gentle cleanser, such as the bespoke Bergamot Orange Cleansing Milk.

When it comes to moisturising, DON’T forget to apply your eye cream both under your eye as well as on your lids and brow bone. We often disregard the importance of our upper eye areas, whilst directing our complete focus to our lower areas. Remember that as we grow older, our upper eye area is just as prone to wrinkles and sagging.

Applying a cream, such as Plantae’s Avocado Pear Eye Contour Cream, will condition and protect both the delicate areas below and above your eye. What’s particularly special about Plantae’s Contour Cream is its unique blend of cold pressed New Zealand grown avocado pear and borage seed oils. This blend, containing abundant amounts of antioantioxidants and vitamins, is perfect for softening and hydrating the eye area.

Last but not least, DO remember the importance of layering your products! We can’t expect a single moisturiser to tend to alternate textures of our face. When it comes to the more delicate areas, such as our eyes, the best results come from using task-specific products.
