BioGro Organic Certification:
Our products are certified organic by BioGro, which is New Zealand’s largest and best-known certifier for organic produce and products, their certification is also internationally recognised and accredited.
BioGro is owned by The Soil & Health Association, which is the largest membership organisation supporting organic food and farming in New Zealand and one of the oldest organic organisations in the world established In 1941.
The BioGro certification process is not one to be undertaken lightly. They have stringent requirements including auditing of our purchasing and manufacturing. Proof of organic certification for raw materials, all need to be traceable back to their original source and have proven organic certification, to requirements within the factory. In order to meet BioGro standards we are required to leave as little ecological footprint in our production as possible; the dish soap we use for washing coffee cups must be biodegradable – and that’s just one example..
We have received at least 95% Organic Certification on all of our products.

Here is what you won’t find in Plantae products
- Animal products
- Palm Oil
- Synthetic Waxes
- Fungicides, Herbicides, Pesticides, Petrochemicals,
- Synthetic Additives
- Artificial Fragrances
By insisting on only using organic raw materials we in turn ensure that those materials are farmed under fair labor practices. Those involved in the harvesting process are not exposed to any harmful synthetic chemicals, must be given meal and bathroom breaks, access to drinking water and are paid a fair wage.
Our factory and office team is based entirely in Nelson, New Zealand. Plantae’s parent company Plantier Developments Ltd. NZ is committed to be an employer of choice. We’re a startup and we are nothing without our dedicated and loyal employees who are always asked to do things outside of their standard job description. To express our gratitude we offer varying staff incentives: group afternoons out (wine tasting anyone?), early days off on Fridays, and flexible work hours, just to name a few perks. Overall the health, happiness and wellbeing of our team are of the utmost importance to us. We aren’t fixated on strict 9 -5 hours, business attire, or sitting at your desk quietly, but that you’re getting the job done well and are happy to do it.
Commitment to Environmental Care:
We are very focused on being as environmentally conscientious as possible. Wherever possible we try to reduce waste and our overall environmental impact. Our BioGro Certification requires us to use very specific third party brands for cleaning, vermin removal and recycling. We only use bio – degradable dish soap to wash the staff coffee cups! We could ramble on for a long time about all that we do to be as sustainable as possible, if you want to know more please get in touch.
About The Packaging:
We use an airless vacuum pump for our cleansers and creams. We chose this system because it facilitates clean, easy and full use of the product, therefore minimal to zero wastage. The airless bottle has no dip tube but rather a diaphragm that rises to evacuate the product. When the user depresses the pump, it creates a vacuum effect, drawing the product upwards. Consumers can use all of the product without any waste left and they don’t have to worry about the problem of the standard pumps that do not work appropriately for many products.
There are three benefits to this type of package:
- Significantly reduces wastage
- Keeps the product fresh and protected from outside.
- Eliminates the need to ever open the packaging exposing it germs and bacteria.
Everything comes in a recyclable cardboard box, and 99% of our packaging is fully recyclable. The only thing that cannot go into a household recycle bin is the Rosehip Fruit & Seed Serum dropper. The ability to have a fully recyclable package is very important to Plantae.
